In Aimie Meyer’s heartwarming children’s book, readers are introduced to Gnarly, a “nearly knocked over” Christmas tree living on a bustling tree farm. Unlike the taller and fuller trees around him, Gnarly stands small and crooked. Even so, he possesses an abundance of Christmas spirit and dreams of the day a loving family will recognize his unique charm.
As the story unfolds, readers are invited to root for Gnarly on his journey of patience, resilience, and unwavering optimism. Will this special tree ever find a family that sees him for more than his imperfections? With enchanting illustrations and a touching narrative, Gnarly the Christmas Tree is a beautifully crafted tale destined to become a beloved holiday tradition, reminding readers young and old that everyone has a special place where they belong.
Aimie Meyer’s family began their tradition of having their kids—the real Oliver, Arthur, and Danny—take turns selecting a Christmas tree each year at Grandpa Dan’s Christmas Tree Farm in 2018. After the third year, they were presented with the opportunity to purchase not just one tree but the whole Christmas tree farm! Grandpa Dan, a Korean War veteran with a love for nature and hard work, started his farm in the 1990s and cared for it into his late eighties. Today, author Aimie and her husband, Dan, (plus, of course, Oliver, Arthur, and Danny!) take care of Grandpa Dan’s Christmas Tree Farm.
This is Aimie’s first book, and she hopes to share the gifts of family traditions and being yourself with all young readers. To enjoy more of Aimie’s writing and learn more about the Meyer family’s journey, check out her blog at their farm’s website, www.grandpadansfarm.com/blog.
